Things to see

Il Porto Antico (The Ancient Port)

You can enjoy Ice Skating,  eating at Eataly,  visiting the Bigo and taking its lift to the top to sightsee the whole city, buying some crap from a Marrochine dude and feeding it to the fish and many more fun filled activities.

La Lanterna (The Lantern)

This is the symbol of our city, it is used to guide ships to the port. During clear nights you can see it from more han 20 miles out. And if you are looking for some Amsterdam red district type of activities its the place to be.

Piazza De Ferrari (De Ferrari square)

It is the center of our town. There is a big beautiful fountain (that sometimes actually works). sometimes the color of the water is changed to green or red to match the holiday theme. Sometimes you can witness spontaneous dancing as flash mobs take over the plaza.

Palazzo San Giorgio (Saint George Palace)
Located in front of porto antico one of the oldest and most  beautiful buildings  in Genoa . It is said that  in the past Marco Polo was imprisoned inside this palace, because it used to be a prison. Next to it you can shop at local markets with local food such as Pesto and home made Salami.

Piazza della Vittoria (Vittoria Square)

The Arch was commissioned at the beginning of  the 20th century,  it was to divide the old city from the east suburbs. there use to be a flame at the center of it, but after too many stupid people burnt themselves they decided to get rid of it.

Biosfera (Biosphere)
This biosphere was designed by Renzo Piano and is located next to the aquarium. It is a amazing recreation of a tropical environment, which next to the aquarium enhances the visitors experience. Also  as you enter this wonderful biosphere
an overgrown pigeon will poop on your head or spit half eaten shrimps at you while you sweat like a pig.

Boccadasse (Axlemouth)
This is one of the typical beaches of the Ligurian riviera, very close to the town center. You can find some very typical Italian style businesses, such as: La Tartana (an old pub that serves beers and drinks that cannot be found any where else in the world, some very famous seafood restaurants such as "Il Dindi" and "La cruza de ma".
Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace)
Also known as Pâxo is one of the most important historical palaces in Genoa, It was built in the thirteen hundreds it was abandoned for many years and eventually used as the justice headquarters. It was finally brought back to its old glory in 1992 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus discovering America. There are many expositions held there (such as Van Gogh, Miro' and McCurry)

Portofino (Dolphin Port)
One of the most beautiful and typical villages in the Italian riviera. It is a favorite vacation spot for millionaires all around the world made famous especially since the opening of il Covo di Nord Est, where many famous singers performed such as Anita Franklin, Frank Sinatra, etc. If you are planning on going there you might want to consider bringing an oversized wallet as a coffe in one of the Portofino cafes will probably set you back ten euros.
Matitone (Big Pencil)
This was one of the first skyscrapers built in Genoa  and is known to be a skydivers worst nightmare as they often get impaled by its antennas.

Corso Italia (Italia Way)
During the summer this is the spot to be. It has quite the nightlife with plenty of clubs and restaurants and during the day it is a favored jogging spot because of the wonderful view of the sea and beaches, you might have to dodge a buch of old farts while jogging as they struggle to keep going. If you decide to go swimming there will be a different kind of dodging, known as turd dodging as most of the beaches are located next to sewers. To go for a healthy swim take a ten minute train ride to the riviera for perfectly clean waters.

Acquario (Aquarium)
This was also built for the 1992 "Colombiadi" and is  the 2nd largest European aquarium and the 9th world largest. You can pet some tailless stingrays, you are also able to see some animals other than fish, such as reptiles, amphibians and birds. If for some weird reason you would like to sleep there to see the animals fed, before the opening of the aquarium, you may do so for a small fee. be weary of the usual Marocchin outside trying to sell you a bogus fishing license to fish in the aquarium.

Magazzini del Cotone (Cotton deposits)
This was one of the most important buildings in Europe as it was the biggest cotton deposit.  It was the main storehouse for the distribution of cotton from India to all of the continent. Today the building has been modernized and it houses a children's scienze museum and library, a cinema, a science fair, and on the sides of the building there are plenty of typical genovese restaurants and bars. On the sea side of the building you can see many expensive yachts all of them flying a british flag, but the funny thing is the owners don't speak english.

Museo delle scienze naturali (Natural science museum)
The museum holds many taxidermy animals from all types of fauna also including insects and fish. You can also admire many skeletons of animals such as mammoths and wales.  If you are a fan of petrology there is also an extensive  collection of rocks, minerals and crystals of all kinds.
